Tabitha Jay is the Director of the Joint Work & Health Unit, reporting to ministers in both DHSC and DWP.  She joined from DHSC where she 12 years in senior leadership roles including legislation, childhood obesity, the NHS Constitution & Social care funding. Tabitha started her career at HM Treasury, leaving to complete an MBA at INSEAD and work as a management consultant.

  • Outlining the work of the Work and Health Unit in making changes across the welfare system including working towards getting one million more disabled people in employment by 2027
  • Discussing the ‘Mental Health Core Standards’ framework and how organisations should seek to implement it within the workplace
  • Sharing the government’s case for change for improving workplace health and wellbeing including aiming to reduce long-term sickness absences
  • Detailing the support available to employers to help them recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions, through initiatives such as access and returning to work schemes, mental health support services and the Disability Confident campaign.
